CHED suspends college classes in Metro Manila, 12 areas - NDCC

MANILA, Philippines - Taking its cue from the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) announced Sunday night the suspension of classes in 13 areas hit hard by typhoon "Frank."

National Disaster Coordinating Council spokesman Anthony Golez Jr. said the CHED suspended college classes in the same areas where elementary and high school classes will be suspended.

"Doon sa binanggit na probinsya ng DepEd wala na ring pasok sila. ...Gusto niya bigyan ng pagkakataon ayusin ang kalagayan at kabuhayan bago sila pumasok (Classes in college will be suspended at the same areas as elementary and high school. Neri wants college students to put their homes in order before they return to class)," Golez said on dzBB radio.

The DepEd earlier announced the suspension of classes at the elementary and high school levels in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, La Union, Benguet and Ilocos Norte. - GMANews.TV

Great job for sounding the call of nature alarm with perfect timing! Thanks to my ureter which can only hold so much!

Earlier this morning, I was awoken from my slumber by the urgency of bladder fullness. It was 11am at such time. It was still quite an early time for me to awaken for a day in which I have no class or test to attend. Or so I thought...

I decided to go to the CR and relieve the pressure upon my bladder. As I was returning to bed, I noticed that the message alert light of my phone was blinking which meant that I had unread text messages. I picked up my phone and saw that there were indeed two unread messages in my inbox.

I decided to read them.

The first message was: Dudes! Wala na daw exam kay Ma'am Corcega. Di daw nia mahahabol tapusing gawin ung exam ngayon.

I drowsily just shrugged it off because I knew that it was not necessarily for me. It was just a text pass and I was not affected by it in the first place.

Now for the second message: Pucha! Meron daw uling exam lahat kay Ma'am Corcega! Ang labo talaga..

I was not taken aback by the message because I already knew that I was not affected by this examination thing.

I was about to drop my phone back and return to my peaceful sleep when an impulse of rereading the message came upon me.

Pucha! Meron daw uling exam LAHAT kay Ma'am Corcega! Ang labo talaga..

I overlooked the word "lahat" which meant that everyone was included. I panicked and immediately called up our professor who was the course coordinator for this subject, N181 Nursing Leadership and Management.

She confirmed the news. It turned out that THE LIST was only applicable to the 4/5 or 80% of the final examination. Everyone, even the exempted people was to take the remaining 20% of the finals.

Waaaaahhhhh! I became fully awake by such news. The realization that I was going to take an exam which I hadn't been able to review even a single word was nerve wracking.  I was fidgeting because it was pass 11am. The test was supposed to start at 1pm and I was still in Paranaque! So good luck if I will be able to arrive on school by that time!

Yes! So nice such situation was huh!

I quickly took a bath and rushed to school. I arrived at UP Manila at about 1:20pm. Good thing the test had not started yet. I was supposed to review for the exam but the urge to loaf around and chit-chat with classmates and friends, was stronger.

So yeah, I took the exam without reviewing. Nice huh!

Good thing though, the exam questions where just like the ones which were asked in the previous test. So yey! For a lazy boy like me! Haha!!!

Group ALAB (All-Stars) had a group date at the Mall of Asia this afternoon after the exam. We had lots of fun coloring the place mat at Burgoo where we ate dinner, courtesy of the birthday celebrants/celebrators (?) Manessa Ferrer, Jeremy Lo and Ayin Quintin. Thanks guys! Sobrang nabusog kami! 'till next time! Haha!

We also had our group picture taken at a studio. The photos were really nice! I'll upload them as soon as I get my hands on those files.

Go Group A!!!! We are Alab-ing! Haha!

Well, if other people have an entry which has the same title, I will have my own version as well.

As of the moment, many 3rd year, Batch 2009, University of the Philippines College of Nursing students are awaiting the verdict on their fate. They are waiting for THE LIST. This list contains the names of the people who shall take the final examination for our N181, Nursing Leadership and Management subject.

This list shall be facilitated through our Batch Head, Jonas Balneg who is also intently waiting for this list. As of the moment of writing, many from Batch 2009 are currently waiting online for the list's arrival. This list is causing quite a big fuss for us third year students.

Let me give you an update.

Here are the facts:
  1. The 3rd exam for N181 was held last Monday.
  2. The Finals will be tomorrow, March 27, 2008 at 1:00pm. This shall be held at Sotejo Hall, UP College of Nursing, Ermita, Manila.
  3. THE LIST is ready. But our professor is still unable to send this list because she hasn't arrived home.
  4. According to our professor, there are 30 names listed on such list.
  5. THE LIST is not an exemption list. It is a list of the people who shall take the finals. In short, no one wants to be in it.
  6. The exemption grade is at least 2.50. So if one is not in the list, it does not mean one failed. It just means one did not reach the minimum grade.
So who's in and who's not?

That we shall find out.... Soon.

Only here, LIVE, at The Eian Chronicles!

Come back in a few moments!

We had our program implementation for our N123, Community Mental Health last Saturday, March 1, 2008.

This was the first day of the program entitled A.K.O. (Alam Ko. Kilala Ko. Orig 'to!) at the Gawad Kalinga village located in Onyx, Manila. The target population was kids 3-6 years of age.

The program mainly aimed on improving the self-concept of children in their formative years. The children were extremely chaotic. They were still relatively manageable, though.

Waaaahhh!

The activity was so tiring specially because we had not gotten much sleep yet because of our clinical duties.

I am too lazy to put captions.

Liham is a message relayed to a friend or some other person through a written medium. In short, liham is a letter slash mail. Haha!

Actually, this post has nothing to do with a liham/letter/mail. It is just that I am teaching *Read: terrorizing* my youngest brother the different parts of a letter and its types. I'm writing this as he scans his note before I ask him about the things his teacher will ask on his quiz tomorrow.

Grrr! I really do not have the patience in teaching kids of this age. I lose my patience so easily! It is really different when you're playing with them, because such thing is a fun thing to do. Schoolwork with gradeschool children with me as the teacher is a big no-no!

God! Please grant me patience for this kind of undertaking. Please!

****************

Tomorrow will be the start of our Cancer Institute duty. It will start tomorrow because our clinical instructor was not available the past couple of days. So, the duty will be from Wednesday to Saturday. The Saturday duty will last for 8 hours straight which will be from 6am to 2:30pm. This duty hours is equivalent to one whole shift of registered nurses working on a hospital.

Waaaahhh!

Such duty schedule will be a first for me and my groupmates. And such duty hour will be the earliest one I shall attend upon. Waaaahhh! I should not be late on this clinical rotation of ours because the clinical instructor is one of the strictest professors in our college!

Multiple waaaahhhs for me!!

It is also my physical examination procedure practical test tomorrow which this clinical instructor shall facilitate.

More waaahhhs for me!

And I have not reviewed for it yet!

Even more waaaaaahhhhss!!!

I'll just be very optimistic about this thing!

I can do this!

Final Waaaaaahhhhh!!!
