I am finally back. I am done being a caveman.
Actually, I had been discharged from the hospital last Friday. But, it is only now that I am able to return online. Hahaha! Noobish me.
For now, I shall be posting this blog entry I wrote last Thursday, April 10, 2008. I brought my laptop with me at the hospital so I was able to squeeze some rantings during my pre-operative period.

Confinement
Thursday, April 10, 2008 8:57 AM It is the second day of my confinement here in the hospital. So far, the stay is all right except maybe for some booboos. Haha! Last night, my mom wanted to look for a bigger room. The room we got was kind of small. However, there was no other room available except the one given to us at the time of my admission. Later that night, my mom tried to inquire if there was another room for us to stay in. Luckily, there was. So, we immediately transferred to such room. *I went there through a wheel chair. You know, hospital protocols and all. It was fun a ride! It feels good to be a free rider sometimes. Haha!* However, when we got to the room it was not as good as we have expected. It was worse. Imagine, there was a column at the smack center of the room. It was such a big obstruction to the point that it made the room feel and look much smaller than it actually was. So, we just opted to go back to our previous room. It was very funny because it was like we were having a tour of the whole hospital. The best thing about it was that I was free riding on a wheel chair the whole time! Hahaha! **************** This morning, an IV line was inserted on my left arm. But after a few minutes upon its insertion, I noticed that there was extravasation of IV fluid (fluid accumulation outside the intravascular space i.e. tissue, muscle, fat, skin). The IV line was not properly placed within the vein. So my left arm became swollen (edematous). I asked my Mom to call the nurse to have my IV line checked. But it took a long time for her (nurse) to arrive so, being the "pakialamero" that I am, I closed/turned off the IV infusion myself. Hahaha! When she arrived, she removed the IV line and reinserted it on a different vein. Thank gawd! The next one was properly in place. And now, I am currently waiting for the person from the OR to pick me up. The operation will happen in about an hour from now. Hope everything will go smoothly. After that, I shall be tonsils-less. Hmmm… Haha! *Waaaahhh!!! I'm hungry! I haven't anything since 12 midnight! I'm not allowed to. Waaaahhhh! ***************

I have finally decided to push through with my tonsillectomy. The benefits outweigh the risks involved so I have decided to give it a go. I'll be out of the blogging world for about three days. I do not think Manila Doctors has Wi-Fi hotspots in their rooms. But if there will be, then good! Internet smooching here I come! Haha! So if my hunch is correct, I'll be a caveman for at least 3 days. Hopefully by that time, the operation would have been successful in terms of the absence of complications. Also, I hope I do not become an obese human being that I will not be able to walk straight through a door. I mean, after all the ice cream cold diet that I shall be consuming immediately post op. Wooooohh! I'll be in calories and fats heaven at that time. Do not get me wrong, I do love ice-cream. I just hate the excess baggage they carry with them. Haha! I'll be checking-in *Waw! Hotel?* at the hospital this afternoon. The operation will be tomorrow, Thursday, April 10, 2008, 10am. Hopefully, I'll get discharged by Friday! *I'll be skipping the first day of the mandatory summer classes. Bwahahaha! Autistic Eian is here again! Haha!* By the way, I'm looking for ice-cream donors out there. I am in dire need of it. Just make sure though, that it is a light colored ice cream*like Vanila, Mango, Strawberry etc* and that it has no fillings. In short, it must be plain old ice cream. Haha! So if anyone there is willing to donate some, I'll be very glad to accept it. Thanks! Hahaha!
I still have not completely decided on the thing I shall do. So many things are popping out of my head lately. These things are about my impending tonsillectomy. *I have tonsillitis right now.* Stuff like: - When will I get operated upon? It should be done prior to the start of our mandatory summer classes. However, summer classes will already start on Friday! Waaaahhh!
- How about my recovery, the post-operative period? How long will it last? *I should recover fast because I'll have classes soon.*
- How will I eat? I do not like to have an NGT (Nasogastric Tube)! *I'm OA!*
- How about the anesthesia? Will it not affect my memory? I do not want my noobish memory get worse. *I know that this thing has not been proven yet. However, it has not been disproved as well, so there is still a posibility of it occuring.* Waaaahhhh!!!
I need to weigh things very well. I must develop an Intra-operative NCP for myself. I must be organized and systematic in the things I shall do. *Yuck! Toxic!*

TonsillectomyDefinition Tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the tonsils. The tonsils are part of the lymphatic system, which is responsible for fighting infection. Purpose Tonsils are removed when a person, most often a child, has any of the following conditions: - obstruction
- sleep apnea (a condition in which an individual snores loudly and stops breathing temporarily at intervals during sleep)
- inability to swallow properly because of enlarged tonsils
- a breathy voice or other speech abnormality due to enlarged tonsils
- recurrent or persistent abscesses or throat infections
Physicians are not in complete agreement on the number of sore throats that necessitate a tonsillectomy. Most would agree that four cases of strep throat in any one year; six or more episodes of tonsillitis in one year; or five or more episodes of tonsillitis per year for two years indicate that the tonsils should be removed. To tonsillectomy, or not to tonsillectomy? That is the question...
 | Bus-tle | Dec 20, '07 11:55 PM for everyone |
I went to Makati this afternoon to fetch something from my Tita's clinic. I had to ride a bus because I did not know any other means of public transportation going to that place. I rode a bus with no air-conditioning system. Yes! I did not enjoy it! Aside from the fact that it was so hot and I got fried from the radiating heat of the sun, the smoke of all that is SLEX and EDSA had accumulated on my poor alveoli! Waaaaahhh!!! In this situation, one can call me overly sensitive and I'll gladly accept it. I'd rather be labelled one rather than die from all the smoke that the metro can offer! Ever since I had an acute bronchitis last year, I had become extra extra careful when it comes to my respiratory system's health. It was then that I learned that the medicine ad byline was very true: It is really hard to get sick!
