Heroes return doesn't include Origins

By Tim Surette - TV.com

Three-hour return event scheduled for September 15; spin-off canned to keep focus on original series.

Good news and bad news for Heroes fans. Good news first: Heroes, as everyone knows, is coming back...but what people didn't know is that it's coming back big, according to NBC-owned SciFi.com.

The return for the superhero saga has been set for September 15, but here's the kicker--it's going to be a three-hour event. The season three premiere will be preceded by a one-hour "clip show" catching people up on the first two seasons/volumes, and the premiere itself will be a two-hour episode, which NBC TV exec Ben Silverman calls a "massive two-hour Heroes film."

It was previously revealed that "Chapter Three" would be subtitled "Villains," and focus on ordinary people with extraordinary abilities who use their new found powers for the not-so-good.

Now for the bad news. The proposed stand-alone Heroes spin-off Heroes: Origins is officially dead--for now. Originally designed to expand the Heroes universe while the show was white-hot, Origins was slated to have guest directors and tell stories of new heroes, one of which would eventually be folded into the regular show.

"We were taxing our creative team to do too much around that," Silverman said at the NBC upfront presentation to advertisers in New York yesterday. "We wanted 35 Heroes [episodes] and 12 Heroes: Origins, each of which was supposed to be a mini-movie and backdoor pilot. We reached far and challenged our people, and we decided it was better to focus on keeping the Heroes mothership as strong as possible."

In the meantime, Heroes fans can fill their time thinking about which recently announced Heroes action figure they want to buy.

Here's the souce link: Heroes.

I really really like this version of this song! The arrangement is amazing! Also, the way David Cook sang this song was great!

This is one of my favourite performances this season of American Idol.

David Cook is the one to beat this season!

The strike is over!

Yey!

The writer's strike in America has already concluded. Thank God that the greedy producers finally gave these hard working and ingenious people greater value for their talents! They truly deserve it!

And with this, we shall come back to our regular TV programming.

WARNING: There are many spoilers on this post. So if you're like me who is a spoiler hater, try not to read the details. Focus on the highlighted part for the date of each show's return.

When we last saw "30 Rock," despite Jack and C.C. giving their all to their long-distance romance by meeting halfway between New York and Washington in a rural Pennsylvania town (and even symbolically throwing their cell phones in a lake), they just couldn’t make it work. Sayonara, Mrs. Soprano! The show is expected to shoot 5 or 6 new episodes to begin airing on April 10.
NBC/Mary Ellen Mathew - Friday, January, 11, 2008, 8:11 PM

When we last saw "The Big Bang Theory," Koothrappali was nervous after his parents set him up on a blind date. But after a couple of drinks he realized he CAN actually talk to the opposite sex. The story took a turn, however, when he realized his date was actually more interested in Sheldon. Poor Rajesh! The show is expected to shoot 9 new episodes to begin airing on March 17.
CBS/Monty Brinton - Wednesday, January, 9, 2008, 10:9 PM

When we last saw "Boston Legal," Shirley’s friend, the sexually adventurous Andrea, hired Carl to sue the company that promised to turn her mother’s ashes into a diamond and instead gave her a (much less valuable) cubic zirconium. On the personal front, Katie fell for a client with AIDS who was also being charged with check forgery, while Denny and Alan prepped for the Coast Guard test. The show is expected to shoot 6 additional episodes to air beginning April 8.
ABC/Andrew MacPherson - Thursday, February, 21, 2008, 5:21 AM

When we last saw "Brothers and Sisters," matriarch Nora was in a tizzy trying to figure out just where her relationship with Isaac (guest star Danny Glover) was headed and if he was even the man she thought he was... turns out he wasn’t. Meanwhile, the newly returned Jason and his brother the Senator got re-acquainted through confrontation, and Graham helped Sarah find closure by celebrating her divorce. The show is expected to shoot 4 new episodes to air beginning April 20.
ABC/Justin Stephens - Thursday, February, 21, 2008, 1:21 AM

When we last saw "Criminal Minds," the contents of a self-storage unit revealed the chilling early signs of a serial killer, prompting Hotchner and the team to profile the items left behind and track down the suspect... before he began killing innocent people. The show is expected to shoot 7 new episodes to begin airing on April 2.
CBS/Monty Brinton - Thursday, January, 24, 2008, 5:24 PM

When we last saw "CSI," Grissom had taken a break from the glitz of the Vegas strip, and was investigating the death of a bull-riding rodeo performer, his prostitute ex-girlfriend, and her pimp. Despite the complicated case, the gang was able to solve the murders in the end... even without the help of Sara, whose character was written off in November after actress Jorja Fox left the show. The show is expected to shoot 6 new episodes to begin airing on April 3. CBS/Robert Voets - Monday, January, 14, 2008, 9:14 PM

When we last saw "CSI Miami," Kyle’s mother, Julia, suddenly popped into Horatio’s life when the CSI investigated the death of her dead billionaire husband. When it was time for Kyle to face his day in court for the kidnapping of Kathleen Newberry, the case was thrown out after Kathleen didn’t show up for court. It turns out Kathleen was bound, gagged and thrown in the water and Horatio is convinced that Julia had something to do with this latest crime which, coincidentally, kept her son out of jail. The show is expected to shoot 8 new episodes to begin airing on March 24.

When we last saw "CSI: New York," a drowning victim was found dead in a self-cleaning restroom. Those close to the case chalked it up to a freak accident, but Mac and his team weren't so sure and decided to investigate the possibility of foul play. They were right, of course. The victim was actually in cahoots with a convicted felon, and was using miniaturized writing hidden on the backs of postage stamps to hatch a plot to spring the criminal from prison. However, in a bizarre twist, their plan backfired when the victim was accidentally killed in a plot by a rival public restroom company. The show is expected to shoot 7 new episodes to begin airing on April 7.
CBS/Art Streiber - Thursday, February, 7, 2008, 10:7 PM

When we last saw "Desperate Housewives," Wisteria Lane was tornado-free. After a big scare Tom and the kids were rescued from the rubble safe and sound. Karen was devastated to find out, however, that her friend Ida died... but helped save the Scavo kids first. After a head injury landed Carlos in the hospital Gaby told him she still wanted to marry him even without the money. But turns out Carlos is keeping a secret from her... the accident caused him to go blind. The show is expected to shoot 6 new episodes (including a two-hour finale) to air beginning April 13.
ABC/Andrew Eccles - Wednesday, January, 9, 2008, 10:9 PM

When we last saw "Gossip Girl," the show certainly lived up to its name after the episode began with Serena buying a pregnancy test. Though she was picking it up as a favor for Blair, rumors swirled that Serena herself might be preggers. As Blair wondered who the father might be, Nate flipped out after he found out about Blair’s tryst with Chuck, and Chuck began blackmailing Blair. Luckily, Blair found out there’d be no baby on the horizon. The show is expected to shoot 5 new episodes to begin airing on April 21.
The CW/Timothy White - Thursday, January, 10, 2008, 5:10 PM

When we last saw "Grey's Anatomy," things were about as drama-packed as they come. Meredith finally started warming to sis Lexie and even showed it by making her breakfast (which Lexie was actually allergic to, but that’s another story). Derek told nurse Rose that the kiss meant nothing, and then freaked Meredith out by showing her plans of the future “dream house” he wants them to build. Dr. Bailey’s son needed emergency surgery after a bookcase fell on him, and George’s Mom showed up with baby clothes for George and Callie’s future kid... and then promptly put them away and reamed George when Izzie accidentally spilled the beans about her affair with George. The show is expected to shoot 5 new episodes to air beginning April 24.
ABC/Bob D'Amico - Friday, January, 11, 2008, 8:11 PM

When we last left "House," things were heating up on the personal front. House pressed Wilson for details on his relationship with Amber and Wilson admitted they'd been together for four months. After unsuccessfully trying to get Cuddy to sleep with Wilson to break them up, House even offered to let Amber return to the hospital if she'll leave Wilson, but she declined. When House finally conceded to Wilson, he came after him in the hospital lobby, not believing House could approve of his relationship. The show is expected to shoot 4 new episodes to begin airing in its new Monday timeslot on April 28.
FOX/Art Streiber - Wednesday, February, 6, 2008, 8:6 PM

When we last saw "How I Met Your Mother," the gang quickly started raining on Ted's parade with warnings about why you should NEVER date anyone you see on a regular basis. Not surprisingly, Robin, Marshall and Lily each had plenty of examples to serve as warnings about what happens when you break “The Platinum Rule.” The show is expected to shoot 9 new episodes to begin airing on March 17.
CBS - Wednesday, January, 9, 2008, 10:9 PM

When we last saw "My Name is Earl," the gang was celebrating Earl’s release from prison, but Earl was having second thoughts about his do-gooding, since it doesn’t seem to have done him much good. When Earl finds that Ralph is living the good life masquerading as the widow Doris’ dead husband, he throws the list away in frustration. Then, after a bizarre series of events including Earl’s quick stint as a stripper and his accidentally tipping over Joy and Darnell’s trailer, Earl is hit by a car by Billie, a girl he has the hots for. After she’s hit by another car and ends up lying in the street next to Earl, one thing becomes clear. Karma’s back! The show is expected to shoot 9 new episodes to begin airing on March 17.

When we last saw "Law & Order: SVU," Benson and Stabler had babies on the brain when they investigated the theft of 100 embryos and fertilized eggs from a sperm bank. The case really hit home with Benson after a fertility specialist explained that the eggs were worth a lot because so many women are putting motherhood on hold for their careers and having trouble conceiving later in life. Later, Benson admitted to a woman whose embryo was stolen that she too wanted kids someday. Might we see some baby Bensons soon? The show is expected to shoot 5 episodes to begin airing on April 15.
NBC/Mitchell Haaseth - Thursday, January, 24, 2008, 1:24 AM

When we last saw "NCIS," the team investigated a case where a Muslim member of the U.S. Marines suspected of terrorist recruitment was found dead near a mosque. As Special Agent Gibbs and the gang tried to figure out whether or not the Marine had ties to terrorism, their search quickly hit a speed bump when Ducky refused to perform an autopsy on the victim in order to honor his family’s religious beliefs.
CBS/Darren Michaels - Wednesday, January, 16, 2008, 9:16 PM

When we last saw "The Office," Jan had sued Dunder Mifflin for wrongful termination and brought Michael to arbitration as a witness. But when it became clear that Jan never had much respect for Michael, the devoted regional manager sided with the company and their relationship bit the dust. On a more romantic note, Jim and Pam are still lucky in love... and we hope they still will be by the time the show comes back! The show is expected to shoot 6 new episodes to begin airing on April 10.
NBC/Mitchell Haaseth - Wednesday, January, 9, 2008, 10:9 PM

When we last left "Shark," Sebastian had come to terms with the chilling fact that someone wanted him dead. When we last saw "Two and a Half Men," mom Evelyn had gotten engaged to Teddy, and Charlie quickly jumped into bed with his future stepsister — against Teddy’s wishes. Also, Alan got revenge on Charlie for stealing his girlfriend... back in high school. Hey, stealing is stealing, right? The show is expected to shoot 9 new episodes to begin airing on March 17.
CBS/Cliff Lipson - Wednesday, January, 9, 2008, 10:9 PM

When we last saw "Ugly Betty," Betty's big assignment to interview a writer was ruined by an identity mix-up, but Daniel wasn’t too upset. One thing he WAS upset about was finding out the woman he was dating (Gabrielle Union) was actually Wilhelmina’s sister. Yikes! Meanwhile, Marc helped Amanda try to get the attention of the man they thought was her dad... none other than Kiss front man Gene Simmons. Maybe she’ll catch up on a few episodes of “Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels” to find out how he fares as a papa. The show is expected to shoot 5 new episodes to air beginning April 24.
ABC/Bob D'Amico - Thursday, December, 13, 2007, 10:13 PM

When we last saw "Without a Trace," the FBI’s New York Missing Person’s Squad investigated the case of a woman who went missing while working in a veterans' hospital. The team's detective work led them in two directions — first to the victim’s connection to a radical anti-war group, and then to her Vietnam vet father. The show is expected to shoot 6 new episodes to begin airing on April 3.
